Nature Camp (Grades 1 to 4)

Come join us for five days of outdoor fun, crafts, games, and learning! This program is open to students currently in Grades 1–4, with each session taking place at the Gould Lake Outdoor Centre, north of Sydenham.

Bus transportation is provided from different locations for each session:

Session 1: Maple ES, Elginburg PS, and Loughborough PS
Session 2: W.J. Holsgrove PS and Loughborough PS
Session 3: The Prince Charles PS and Loughborough PS
Session 4: Molly Brant ES, Elginburg PS, and Loughborough PS

Throughout the week, students will explore a different nature-based theme each day through hands-on activities, games, and outdoor adventures!

On Day 1, we’ll kick off the week with Rocks & Minerals Day, exploring Gould Lake and the abandoned mica mines found throughout the conservation area. Campers will enjoy lunch at one of the mines and have the opportunity to search for a variety of rocks and mineral samples.

Day 2 is Weather Day! Campers will learn about the elements through hands-on activities, including building shelters and conducting experiments to explore wind and air pressure.

Day 3 is Animal Day! Campers will discover some of the wildlife that calls Gould Lake home and explore nearby ponds to see what creatures they can find.

Day 4 is Water Day, packed with fun in and around the lake! Campers will take part in a water balloon challenge, a team relay race, and, of course, plenty of swimming.

We’ll wrap up the week on Day 5 with Plant Day! Campers will canoe across Gould Lake to East Bay, where they’ll head out on a plant hike, enjoy a big swim, make friendship bracelets, and finish their adventure with a cookout lunch.
